Two tattoo commissions!

The first one is a pin-up girl design – sexy and smart.

Pin-Up Tattoo

The second is a book design (I guess I know lots of women who like to read!) for two BFFs. So sweet.

I really hope I can get a photo of these as tattoos!  Seeing my art as permanent ink on someone’s skin is both amazing and humbling.

Shadowed Summer – bookmark

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

The lovely and talented author Saundra Mitchell commissioned me to draw a promotional bookmark for her new published book, Shadowed Summer.  The blurb:

Nothing ever happened in Ondine, Louisiana, not even the summer Elijah Landry disappeared.

His mother knew he ascended to heaven, the police believed he ran away, and his girlfriend thought he was murdered.

Decades later, certain she saw his ghost in the town cemetery, fourteen-year-old Iris Rhame is determined to find out the truth behind “The Incident With the Landry Boy.”

Enlisting the help of her best friend Collette, and forced to endure the company of Collette’s latest crush, Ben, Iris spends a summer digging into the past and stirring old ghosts, in search of a boy she never knew.

What she doesn’t realize is that in a town as small as Ondine, every secret is a family secret.

Can’t wait to read this!

Commission of the late, great Mr. Bruce Lee. He sure was a stunning-looking fella.

Network and Forge

Friday, September 11th, 2009

The characters might look familiar to the X-Men fans out there – it’s Network and Forge! I only know Forge from my comicbook collecting days; I suppose Network is a new character.

This is a commission done for personal use only. Done in Photoshop.

Azkatraz!

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Azkatraz: It’s a Harry Potter fan and academic symposium, held in San Francisco in July 2009! I got to design some of the Programme Book and logos needed for the conference.

All designs and images property of HP Education Fanon Inc.

PROGRAMME PAGES
1. Warden’s Desk, without copy text. The concept was to have a jumble of magical items, paper (for the text) and other knick knacks on the two-page graphic spread. Done in Photoshop.

2. Hotel map. I got full rein to create a ‘prison map’ for the programme book so the attendees could find their way between the floors. Again, the conceptual theme was whimsical with a bit of black humour. This was another two-page spread in the book.

TICKETS
1. Ticket for the WROCK (or ‘wizard rock’) concerts. The concept was supposed to reflect concert posters, leaning on the retro side.

2. Ticket for the Dessert with Chris Rankin (actor from the HP movies). I think the concept was for a Willy Wonka style ‘Golden Ticket’, since this dessert was a much sought-after treat for the fans.

LOGOS
Fog Bowl Tournament! What would a Harry Potter conference be without Quidditch? Designs were needed for the tournament itself as well as the team logos. All designs were printed on t-shirts for the Quidditch players and referees to wear.

DESIGNS
1. Design made into door hangers. Concept meant to imitate 1939 British motivational posters. Done in Illustrator.

2. Design for an Arrest Warrant. Cute idea to tie into the theme of the conference. The idea was for the warrant to look very stern and official. Done in InDesign.

All in all, a very fun experience. I got a Fog Bowl Tournament t-shirt as a bonus. It’s so silly, it’s awesome.
